FAQ TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

What apprenticeship and qualification opportunities does s.Oliver offer?

We currently offer skilled apprenticeship courses leading to eight different types of accredited qualification. Every year, we take on apprentices and trainees, both at our headquarters in Rottendorf and at s.Oliver stores all over Germany.

Do you welcome speculative applications for apprentice positions?

You can find a list of all of s.Oliver's current apprentice vacancies in the Vacancies section. All vacancies are advertised, there are no further openings.

Can I specify where I want to do my training if I want to work in retail?

Always state in your application that you are flexible and willing to relocate. You should generally mention your preferred location(s) in your covering letter.

What skills and qualifications do you look for in your trainees?

Generally speaking, you need to have done well at school – the minimum qualification (i.e. education level) that is required varies depending on the job that you want to apply for. What we really want to know is why you are interested in training for this particular job, and why you want to do your training with us, rather than with another company. You can find more detailed information in the list of vocational training and qualifications offered.

What are the chances of getting a job with you once I have completed my training/my apprenticeship?

We hope to be able to offer each of our vocational trainees/apprentices a position with s.Oliver once they are qualified. We do not regard trainees and apprentices as ‘cheap labour’, in fact, we believe in paying particular attention to your career development, challenging you, and giving you the support you need.

How does the application procedure work?

Once we have had a good look at your application and all the relevant documents, you may be short-listed for one of our vocational training courses/trainee positions. You would then be invited to attend an aptitude test. Once you have successfully completed the aptitude test, you will attend a face-to-face interview. We make our final decision based on the content of the application documents, the test results, and the impression we gained during your interview.
